PamTube: Look Like a Chic Jetsetter with Style Expert Pamela Pekerman

I travel enough to see the good, the bad and the really?!? PJs are not allowed. Let every moment be a fashion opportunity to shine. A chic travel ensemble doesn't mean Herve Leger and Prada pumps. To master the jetset  style:

1. Keep it comfy, but classy in jeggings or leggings. Avoid ultra shinny spandex and go for a thicker cotton blend, ideally in black or a dark charcoal like the Milan Legging from Yummie Tummie. Pair with a slimming (but not fully body con - remember ABB Always Balance your Body) top. I love traveling in Elizabeth Daniel New York or a Theory top.
2. Never forget your pashmina scarf. It ads color, doubles as a blanket and is loaded with panache! There's just something about a scarf that elevated any look.
3. Keep a pair of rollable flats in your bag. Even if you're like me and will change into them as soon as you exit security, flats will help you breeze through the airport and are much easier during screening. Try Yosi Samra
4. After a long flight, freshening up is key. With a Travalo perfume atomized you'll never have to shop for 3oz bottles again. It's amazing. Buy it and you'll see!

Enjoy the video and let me know what you want to see in future episodes.

I went crazy for Ted Baker this season. Bloomingdale's on 59th probably should put a limit on the amount of Ted Baker clothing I can purchase at one time. This Brit knows how to make fun and feminine dresses and separates. Any other Ted Baker fans?

Decoding Personal Style w/ Style Expert Pamela Pekerman

Everyone has style, you may just need some help decoding it.

1. Is there an era in fashion that most appeals to you?
2. Are there certain looks you see on celebrities that you love? How would you describe their style?
3. How did you decorate your home?
4. Is there a silhouette which garners you the most compliments?
5. Ask your husband, best friend, sister, coworker to describe how they perceive your style in three words?
6. Ask yourself, how would you like others to describe your style? Compare that to the answers you received from others.
7. Are you exuding the style, vibe, tone that you want?

Decoding your style doesn't happen overnight, but it's an essential journey that will help you shop smarter and avoid over trending on looks that really don't work for me.

Watch the video below where I share my personal style.

Homemade Scones for Brunch, Deliciously Accessorize the Table

Brunch is my favorite meal to host guests because it's casual and seemingly never ending. On the menu: eggs Florentine, bagels with all kinds of accessories (cheeses, lox, tuna salad, egg salad) and homemade scones. Scones are a savory accent to tea and a wonderful option to consider for your next brunch.

Lemon-Cranberry Scones

Ingredients
3 cups all purpose flour plus extra for shaping
1/2 cup sugar
Grated zest and juice of 1 lemon
1 teaspoon baking power
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into 1/2inch cubes
3/4 cup low-fat buttermilk
1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 cut dried cranberries
1 cup confectioner's sugar

Preheat the oven to 375degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Whisk the flour, sugar, lemon zest, baking power, baking soda, and salt together in a large bowl. Add the butter and work it in with your fingertips until there are no pieces larger than a small pea.

Whist the buttermilk and applesauce together in a large liquid measuring cup. (I just do in in another bowl.) Add half of the buttermilk mixture to the flour mixture and stir with a fork. (Yes, a fork - I tried this once with my mixer. It's unnecessary and less effective.) Pour the remaining buttermilk mixture and add the dried cranberries. Stir until just combined. (Don't worry, it will look a bit clumpy.)

Lightly flour a work surface. Divide the dough in half and sprinkle the top of each piece with a little flour and then pat into a 1-inch-thick round that is about 5 1/4 inches in diameter. Using a long sharp knife or pizza wheel, divide each round into 6 wedges, like a pie. Place the wedges on the baking sheet and bake until golden, about 15 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes on the pan before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

While the scones cool, make the glaze. Whisk 1/4 cup of lemon juicy and the confectioners' sugar together in a small bowl. Use a spoon to drizzle the glaze over the cooled scones. (I found that this make a LOT of glaze, enough to drizzle over 24+ scones.)

MAKES 12 SCONES

This recipe comes from my friend Candice Kumai's (of Top Chef fame) debut book  Pretty Delicious. Her second book Cook Yourself Sexy, comes out in October 2012.

Pam's Style Diary - 08.02.12

Top - H&M ; Jeans - BleuLab (reversible)
I'm not really into jeans. However, after watching a very interesting documentary about the history of denim, I gained an appreciation for the fabric. These are my latest acquisition - BleuLab Detour Legging in French Chalk / Coated Charcoal. It's two jeans in one, plus the 95% cotton is perfect for extra stretch . I mean some of us just had fish and chips for lunch and are pretty happy about the stretch. Just saying.

Where to buy: H&MBleuLab

Sandals - Jimmy Choo; Bag - classic LV speedy; Headband - Giant Dwarf; Bracelets LtoR inhered, leather wrap TrollBeads, DYI stud/lace/leather
This crystal heaband/crown from Giant Dwarf Design has been in my posseion for quite some time, a gift from some press event. I finally wore it out for the first time, last month. It's fun, ethereal and a fashion adventure for me. I feel like a celestial goddess when I wear it. Why can't my husband love it as much as I do? He's usually spot on. What do you think? Would you wear it?

Where to buy: Jimmy Choo, Louis Vuitton, TrollBeads, Giant Dwarf Design
